Jason Alexander “JJ” McCurry, age 37, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Jasper, Alabama. Born on March 9, 1988, in Alabama, JJ brought light and warmth to everyone he encountered throughout his life. JJ was known for his generous spirit and unwavering kindness. He had a heart that radiated compassion—always ready to lend a hand or offer the shirt off his back to someone in need. His philosophy was simple yet profound: “Everyone is a neighbor and every day is beautiful no matter the weather.” He lived by these words, embracing each day with humility and gratitude. He was deeply loved not only by those in his home community but also by many across Alabama who were touched by his sincerity and joyful presence. JJ’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life made him truly unforgettable—a one-of-a-kind soul whose memory will continue to inspire. JJ is survived by his devoted mother, Amanda Aderholt; siblings Adam McCurry, Rebecca and Trey Norton, Melinda Warren, Tamara and Coty Grace, Tara McCurry, and Tyler Aderholt; as well as sixteen loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a host of friends who cherished his friendship and spirit. He was preceded in death by his father Donald McCurry; stepfather Joey Aderholt; grandparents Otis McCurry, Anne Greere, Tommy Warren, and Sally Warren; aunts Marie Robbins and Tammy McCurry; cousins Larry Brown, Rayven Brown, and Baby Harmony. A memorial service celebrating JJ’s life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery in Pineywoods, AL. May the memory of Jason “JJ” McCurry bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of the beauty found in kindness and love.
