Tommy Lynn Wright, age 65, was born on May 21, 1960, in Aberdeen, Mississippi
to Jimmie Sue and Seabern Wright III. After a lengthy battle with stage 4 cancers,
the Lord called him home on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He passed peacefully at
his residence in Kansas, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Annie-Mae and Jim McGinnis,
Vergie and Seabern Wright II; parents Jimmie Sue and Seabern Wright III;
brothers Charles (Bubba) Nix and Larry Wright; sister Ruth Ann Ingle;
sister-in-law Tina Wright.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Cindy Wright; son Timothy Wright;
daughter Krista (Ben) Stokes; granddaughter Kenslee Stokes; brothers Ronald
Wright and David (Tracie) Wright; brother-in-law Theman Ingle; sisters-in-law
Tonya Wright and Lori Warren Nix; and many nieces and nephews.
Tommy built furniture at both Winston Furniture and 3 Star. Later in life, he
entered the mobile home industry. He was an avid fisherman and the biggest
Alabama Crimson Tide fan. On any given Saturday, he could be found on a creek
bank or in Bryant-Denny Stadium watching the Tide Roll.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at Wilson Brothers Funeral Home in
Carbon Hill, Alabama, with Pastor Cates Noles, a lifelong friend, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m., with the
service beginning at 5:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Carbon Hill Memorial
Cemetery, also known as New Pisgah Cemetery. There will be no graveside
service. The family wishes to acknowledge the following as Pallbearers: Tim
Wright, J.R. Troxell, Chad Nix, Brock Wright, Adam Hendon, Andrew Sargent,
Dylan Starnes, and Josh Freeland, and further acknowledges Tim Kirkland and
Mike Kirkland as Honorary Pallbearers, in recognition of their love and support.
Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to Northwest Alabama
Hospice, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, and all the friends and family who
have helped in any way.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to the American Cancer Society or
a charity of your choice in memory of Tommy Wright. He loved his family and
friends, he was loved by many, and will be greatly missed by all.
