Shirley Ann Dobbins, age 82, of Eldridge, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Fayette Medical Center. Mrs. Dobbins was born on April 3,1943, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to the late Cleburn Tamage “Steve” Stephens and Tula Mae Stephens. She was a graduate of Carbon Hill High School and a faithful member of New River Baptist Church. Mrs. Shirley was the owner and co-founder of Dobbins Oil Company and continued working until earlier this year. Everyone knew her as “Nanny”. She was a loving and caring Christian daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. In her spare time, Nanny enjoyed baking cakes, visiting with others in the community, spending time with her siblings, and enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dobbins is survived by her children, Sherri Stovall (Art), Stephanie Jones (David), and Richard Dobbins (Linda); her grandchildren, Conway Justin Stovall, Jeffery Stovall (Keela), Lindsey Dobbins, Jacob Stovall (Lacey), Kaylee Benton (Dax), Randy Dobbins, and Lake Jones; great-grandchildren, Alek Stovall, Daxton Benton, Avery Stovall, and Sage Stovall; sisters, Betty Haley (James), Shelby Tucker, Linda Godsey; and brother, Jerry Stephens.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dobbins was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Dobbins “Oil Man”; and brother, Larry Stephens.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Dobbins will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at New River Baptist Church.
