Nathaniel James Lopez, age 20, departed this life on February 25, 2024. He is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Penny Lopez; baby brother, Ezequiel Herrera; great uncle, Jerry Earnest; and uncle, Jeramy Hallmon. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved girlfriend, Gracelyn Thomas and their son Jesse Lopez; uncle and aunt, Hank and Kerry Hallmon; mother, Jennifer Herrera; siblings Savannah, Josiah, Rosalina, Airionna, Osvaldo, Jennessa, and Aniya Herrera; siblings, Dalilah and Samara Martinez; cousins, Tristan, Bentley, Holden, and Harleigh Hallmon; grandparents, Juan and Louise Godoy; uncle, Andres Godoy; great grandfather, Jaime Lopez; great uncle, Joseph Earnest; great uncle and aunt, Joseph and Cecelia Clancy; his best friend who was more like a brother, Logan Turner; as well as many other relatives and friends. Nathaniel was a 2023 graduate of Carbon Hill High School. He was such a joy to be around. He had a big heart and was so kind to everyone. His first love was playing guitar. He learned how to play at a young age. He enjoyed nature and loved to hunt and fish. He loved his family and was always there for them. Gracelyn and Jesse were his world. He was an amazing father, son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend. He left his mark on this world, and he will be deeply missed by so many. He will be cremated and a memorial service for him will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12pm in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home in Carbon Hill, AL with Pastor Scott McCullar officiating. In leu of flowers please make donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in his name.
