Lee Grant Gober

Lee Grant Gober, 87, passed away on March 14, 2025. He was born on November 12, 1937, and grew up in the Nauvoo and Carbon Hill area. Lee honorably served in the United States Army for two years before continuing his service as a lieutenant in the Army Reserves, ultimately retiring as a Colonel. During his distinguished military career, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for outstanding service from July 1, 1976, to June 8, 1980, while serving as Commander of the 828th Transportation Battalion in Greensboro, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Gober; and his sisters, Zuelle Romine and Barbara Miller. Lee is survived by his wife, Joan Woods Gober; his son, Lee Gober Jr. (Stephanie); his daughter, Diana Spain Morris (Ralph); his grandchildren, Morgan Gober (Ashley), Elisa Gober, Courtney Gardner (JoJo), and Cameron Morris (Katie); and his great-granddaughter, Lillia Gardner. Lee's dedication to his country and family will be remembered with deep respect. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. Lee will be laid to rest at The Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
