Kathryn Jean Evans, known by friends and family, as “Tootie”, passed away at age 67, on April 10, 2026 at Ridgewood Nursing Facility in Jasper, Alabama.
Tootie was a devoted follower of the Lord and lived with her faith daily. She faithfully attended church services each Sunday at Ridgewood. Her presence was a source of encouragement and light to others. Her love was evident by the way she loved and cared for others.
She had a loving and lively spirit about her. Even being confined to a wheelchair chair for the past 14 years did not slow her down. She stayed active and never complained about her situation. She kept busy with various activities, attending devotion and church services each week. She loved animals and looked forward each year for football season to begin. She was an avid Crimson Tide football fan.
She will be deeply missed but will be joyfully remembered as not only a loving sister and friend, but also, as a woman of strength, great determination and love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Evans, mother, Betty Joan Rutledge, stepfather, Wayne Rutledge, nephew, Benjamin Sandlin.
She is survived by her sisters, Debra Embury (Greg), Charla Evans (Kristen), nephew, Joshua Sandlin, great niece, Bailee Sandlin, aunt, Jean Clakley, and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on May 9, 2026, at Springhill Cemetery in Nauvoo. Michael Smothers will officiate. Family and friends are in invited to attend.
