Karen E. (Mays) Howard, of Double Springs, was called home to eternal rest on April 24th at 2:24 p.m. due to complications with congestive heart failure. Karen passed peacefully, surrounded by her closest loved ones.

Karen was born on October 11, 1953, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A woman of service and heart, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Birmingham for many years before moving to Haleyville and later settling in Double Springs.

She was a faithful member of the Double Springs Church of Christ and found great fulfillment in Bible study. Karen also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and researching her family genealogy. Above all else, spending time with her grandchildren brought her immense joy.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Clefus N. and Amy C. (Hill) Mays, formerly of Haleyville; her husband, Jerry Richard Howard; and her youngest sister, Susan M. (Mays) Waldrop.

She is survived by her daughters, Kaitlyn and Karlie Armstrong; five grandchildren; her sister, Sharon A. Mays; and her brothers, Paul S. Mays and Tommy D. Mays.
