Jerry DeWayne Richardson, born on February 2, 1970, in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 4, 2026, following a courageous and long-fought battle with cancer. He was a man deeply rooted in his community and family, known for his steadfast nature, kind heart, and dry humor. DeWayne found his greatest joy in the simple moments spent with those he loved, offering a presence that was a constant source of comfort and reliability.
Throughout his illness, DeWayne maintained a strength and resilience that those who knew him grew to admire. He faced his challenges not with despair but with a quiet dignity that reflected the core of his character. DeWayne's life will be celebrated not for the illness he fought, but for the love he gave and the family he built.
Jerry is survived by his children, Ryan Richardson and his wife Amanda; Jackson Richardson and his wife Magan; and Raya Richardson and her husband Konnor. He was a proud grandfather to Liam, Nora Joan, Brody, Blakely, and Briar Douglas, who were a bright light in his life. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Joan Salter, and her husband Mark, whose unwavering support and devotion carried him throughout his life and final journey. His sister, Cheryl White, and her husband Chuck, who stood as a constant companion from childhood through to the very end, also remain as loving pillars of his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bible Comes to Life Church located at 7258 Johns Road, Adger, Alabama 35006. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man whose life was marked by love, strength, and enduring legacy.
Jerry DeWayne Richardson’s memory will live on through the hearts he touched and the family he cherished so dearly. His humility, kindness, and steadying presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
