Geneva "Lady" McGough, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on February 21, 1927, Geneva lived a life full of love, faith, and dedicated service to others.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Geneva is survived by her loving sons, Gerald "Dank" (Debbie) McGough, Rickie (Kaye) McGough, and Phillip (Donna) McGough. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.
Geneva was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dewey and Ella Davis, and her husband, Leon "Red" McGough. She also mourned the loss of her son, Ronald "Mutt" McGough, and grandson, Vincent McGough, as well as her daughter-in-law, Jilliane Joyce McGough.
Geneva found joy in her faith as a member of New Zion Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the community. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering spirit.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to caretakers Jenny Dixon and Kelly Whitt, and to Ashton and Skylar of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days.
Visitation for Geneva McGough will take place on August 29, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Both services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory located at 31404 NE 1st Ave, Carbon Hill, AL 35549.
Geneva's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
