Douglas Sims Jr. passed away on June 9, 2024, in Cordova, Alabama, at the age of 69. He was born on August 14, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois. Douglas was known for always having something funny to say and being a good husband, friend, and father. He had a passion for drumming, dog training, songwriting, singing, roller skating, lifeguarding, and grilling. He cherished his role as a family man. Douglas is survived by his wife, Yeweualrest Sims, his sons Douglas Sims III and Stephyan Sims, his daughters Louise Taylor, Jennifer Denise Coleman, and Miss Stephyanee Sims, his sister Katherine Ware, his brother Tony Sims, a special cousin Roosevelt Moneyham Jr, as well as his grandchildren Bryant Sims, Christopher Williams, John Jarrell Johnson, Javon Johnson, Jayla Johnson, Yndigo Robinson, Deshaun Ali, Rhaija Sims, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Katie Lee Sims, his father, Douglas Sims Sr, his brothers Haywood Ware and Charles Sims, his sister Mary Ware, his daughter Pamela Jean Sims, and his great-grandchild Ezra Williams. Douglas attended Resin Orr High School in Chicago, Illinois, and Harold Washington College in Chicago, Illinois. Memorial services to honor his life will be announced at a later date. Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory in Carbon Hill, Alabama, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
