Dorothy "Virginia" Early, 89, of Carbon Hill went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at her residence. She was best known as Granny. Virginia was a longtime resident of Carbon Hill. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 63 years, Alford L. Early, her parents, Secrates Key and Icy B. Aldridge Key, father-and –mother-in law, Wesley A. Early and Minnie E. Brown Early, brothers-in-law, G.C. "Blue" Colburn and James Mack Nichols, sister-in-law, Pauline Key, and nephew John Franklin Key. She is survived by her son, Lynell Early and his wife Linda; granddaughter, Myra Rainey and her husband Greg; great granddaughter, Kara (Coby) Dozier, four great grandsons, Clark Vandiver, Michael (Brandy) Rainey, Garrett (Kaylia) Rainey, and Chase Rainey; three great-great grandchildren, Timber Jace Dozier, Kyleigh and Graham Rainey; four brothers, Johnnie Mack Key, Francis Scott (Tommie Lou) Key, Jerry Robert "J.R." (Juanell) Key, Timothy "Tim" (Martha) Key; three sisters, Dorenia (Orville) Hagood, Hilda Nichols, and Wanda Colburn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives along with dear friends including her church family. A special thank you to caregivers, Wanda Colburn and Northwest Alabama Hospice. Pall-bearers are J' Michael Key, Jerry Key, Scottie Key, Chris Key, Carlos Hagood, Ted Nichols, Andy Early, Daryl Key, David Key, and Johnny Riddlesperger.
