Donald Earl Dutton, born on August 26, 1951, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Nauvoo, Alabama. He was a cherished member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he found community and connection throughout his life.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Sonia Smith. He was a proud father to daughter Gina (Steve) Pike and daughter Tracy (Teddy) Brannon, as well as son Darrell Smith. Donald found great joy in being a grandfather to Jared Brooks, Clay (Brooke) Brooks, Dante (Mackenzie) Smith, Anabelle Smith-Collins, and Callie Alexander-Everett Smith. He also welcomed the role of great-grandfather to Emmett Brooks. His family extended to include his sister, Betty Prescott, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dutton, and his mother, Dorothy Dutton. He was also preceded by his brothers David Dutton and Harland Dutton, as well as his sister Juannella Dempsy. He is remembered alongside his nephews Terrance and David Dempsy and grandchild Jonna Hocutt.
Donald Earl Dutton leaves behind a legacy of love and family that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held at Old Union Missionary Baptist Church Sunday, November 9, 2025 beginning at 2:00pm
