Don Edward Yow, 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Oakman, AL on March 21, 2026.Don was born on April 29, 1955. He attended Oakman High School, where he was a great basketball player. Don won all-county his senior year of 1973. On November 18, 1982, he married the love of his life, Teresa.Don was a devoted husband and father. He was a hard-working man who spent many long days working in the logging industry at Randolph & Randolph Logging. He finished his career at Oakman Hardwood.After a bout with colon cancer in 2011, he gave his heart to the Lord, and spent the rest of his life telling people about the Lord and what He had done for him. He was brutally honest, but there was no person more willing to give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He loved to cut up, make people laugh, and give everyone “nicknames.” Don was an avid fisherman! He passed on his love of fishing to his oldest grandson, Brady. He loved his children, but his grandkids were his pride and joy. They brought out a softer side of him.Don was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Margaret Earnest; grandmothers, Claudia Yow and Ola Sanders; sisters, Claudia Doreen Yow and Lisa Carol Earnest; step-brothers, Jesse and Jerry Earnest; sister-in-law, Gail Yow; brother-in-law, Johnny Self; He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 44 years, Teresa Yow; daughters, Mandy Yow, Brandi Jones (Terry), and son, DJ Yow (Jennifer). He is also survived by his grandchildren Jordan Jones, Brady Jones, Madilyn Yow-Doran, Taylor Yow, Cayden Yow, and Jaylen Yow; Grand and Great-grand children blessed by life, Brittany Key (Adam) and Callie and Casen Key; Brothers Jackie Yow, Jimmy Yow (Sandra); Sisters Carolyn Self, Debra Woodley (Harvey), and Pam Wilburn (Ronnie). Father and Mother-in-law Wj and Joye Chappell and a host of nieces and nephews and special friends that were dear to him.
