Bonnie L. Irwin was born on June 12, 1943, in Lake George, New York. She passed away peacefully at her home in Nauvoo on August 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Bonnie dedicated much of her life to various roles in customer service, including her time at Walgreens, Eckerds Drug Stores, The Great Escape in New York, and Silver Springs in Ocala, Florida. However, her most cherished role was that of a homemaker, a commitment she embraced fully for the last 20 years of her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Bonnie's existence. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Philip Irwin; a daughter, Cynthia Coburn (Ricky); and sons, Daniel Germain (Susan) and Matthew Germain (Anni). Her loving spirit extended to her grandchildren, Adrienne Smith (Roy), Eric Shivel, Sarah Allen (Wes Davis), Bethany Lowe (Michael), Zoie Roberts (Austin), and Brittnee Irwin. Bonnie also took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Devan, Landon, and Aylin Smith, Hannah and Remington Allen, Willow Davis, Garret Lowe, and Lola and Edward Irwin.
Bonnie was known for her love of conversation, relishing the opportunity to engage with anyone about anything, particularly her faith in Jesus. Her commitment to helping others in need along with her reputation as a prayer warrior were hallmarks of her character. Beyond her personal relationships, she had a deep and abiding love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which was evident to all who knew her. She was also fondly cared for by her special nurse, Kristen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Sarah Mattison; three sisters, Hazel Fraiser (Arnold), Flora Matteson (Charles), and Gladys McDonald (Cecil); and two infant grandsons, Jason Corey Shivel and Matthew Harrison Germain.
